City of God: The Fight Rages On gets a streaming release date

The City of God: The Fight Rages On distributor, Max, announced the premiere date of the series earlier tonight. The HBO Original series, which serves as a sequel to the 2002 Brazilian film City of God, will premiere on Max on August 25. Each of the six episodes in the show will drop once every Sunday through September 29.

Atlanta named finalist for Sundance Film Festival. What does this mean for the future of Independent Film?

Atlanta could be the future home of the Sundance Film Festival. The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced that Atlanta has been selected as one of the six finalists to be the host location for the festival beginning in 2027.

"We are honored that Atlanta is being considered as a potential host for the Sundance Film Festival in 2027 and beyond. Atlanta is where the worlds of film, entertainment, economic development, diversity and inclusion meet and grow cohesively, together," said Mayor Andre Dickens. "We’re ready to show the Sundance Institute that Atlanta is the place where opportunities are endless, and Sundance can continue to shine."

2024 Emmy Nomination: Idris Elba, Aja Naomie King, ‘Abbott Elementary’ and More Score Noms

Tony Hale, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Television Academy chair Cris Abrego announced this year’s nominees from the El Capitan Theatre in a ceremony that was live streamed. During the livestream, Abrego gave Abbott Elementary star Ralph the news that she had received another Emmy nom this year for best supporting actress in a comedy series, an award she won in 2022.

The 76th Emmys are set to air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET on ABC. Keep an eye out for the unexpected and prepare for a few surprises. The full list of nominees will be revealed in real-time, so stay tuned!
